ELA v1.0.3 is now available and is a required upgrade for all main chain nodes.
This release improves block production under heavy load, peer handling, network sync and recovery after restarts. It also strengthens the validation of blocks and transactions.
Activation: block 2,339,500, expected around 16 November 2026. New rules take effect at this block. Nodes that are not upgraded by then will no longer follow the chain.
Applies to: BPoS producers, council members, mining pools, exchanges, explorers, RPC providers and all other main chain node operators. Producers, council members and mining pools should upgrade as early as possible.
Upgrade with node.sh: ~/node/node.sh ela update
Manual upgrade: download the package from https://download.elastos.io/elastos-ela/elastos-ela-v1.0.3/, verify the sha256, stop the node, replace ela and ela-cli, and restart. Existing data is kept and no resync is required. After the upgrade, ela –version shows ela-v1.0.3.
Notes:
- Mining pools must run v1.0.3 on their block builders before block 2,339,500.
- From block 2,339,500, transactions with a 0 ELA output are rejected. Standard wallets are not affected; custom transaction tools should be checked.
- A forced stop is safe if an old node is slow to shut down during the upgrade.
- BPoS producers and council members should upgrade one node at a time, a few minutes apart, rather than all at once.
- The ARM (aarch64) package will follow separately. Operators on ARM servers should wait.
