Welcome to this week’s Behind the Code. As always, we surface the raw progress powering the Elastos ecosystem — from consensus infrastructure and stablecoins to walletless UX and decentralized licensing.
This week, BeL2 NBW reports: A partner chain testnet goes live with 36-node consensus. BTCD protocol expands to all major Bitcoin address types. And Elacity Labs actively intergrates Lit-powered licensing alongside it’s smart account user experience.
BeL2-NBW Team – Elastos Foundation
Upcoming partner, an Elastos Foundation partner Chain: Testnet Ready and 36-Node Verified
- Completed testnet deployment of the chain with:
- 36-node consensus mechanism
- SPV dynamic sensing functionality
- Deposit/withdrawal transaction support
- Fee distribution logic
- Validated mainchain coordination under both PoW and DPoS transitions
- Optimized dynamic voting mechanisms and fixed identified sync issues
- Confirmed fee distribution: 50% an Elastos multisig, 40% miners, 10% NFT cards
BTCD Protocol: Secure, Inclusive, and Decentralized
- Arbiter Collateral Redesign: Shifting to a low-barrier model using Elastos Foundation credit endorsement instead of excessive ELA staking.
- Multi-Address Bitcoin Support: Completed compatibility across P2TR (Taproot), P2WPKH (Native SegWit), P2SH (Nested), and P2PKH (Legacy) address formats.
- Adjusting Arbiter reward logic to BTC-based collateral amounts.
- Testing Taproot-based arbitration signing, user self-unlocks, and edge-case dispute flows.
Mobile UX: Streamlined and Responsive
- Resolving wallet detection issues with automatic network switching.
- Fixing UI glitches: overflow bugs, invalid chainId, and balance visibility.
- Improving Arbiter availability detection and address validation logic.
Infrastructure & Automation
- Registering 10 new EF Arbiters with active signing, monitoring, and alerting infrastructure for testing purposes.
- Deploying ESC API backup nodes to absorb traffic spikes and ensure uptime.
- Writing full automation scripts for the chain and Oracle: start, stop, upgrade, query, deploy.
Ecosystem Support
- Responding to community questions around P2WSH decentralization and BTCD scripting security.
- Assisting with BTCD-ELA liquidity pool setup on Glide by minting and transferring BTCD for testing.
- Updating user documentation for supported BTC address types, wallet quirks, and lending limitations.
Elacity Labs WCI
Smart Account UX & ERC-4337 Compliance (In Progress)
- Elacity is actively refactoring smart account flows to use a unified universal executor for purchases, rewards, and subscriptions.
- Validating on-chain session logic using EIP-1193 wallet sessions.
- Kicking off implementation of ERC-4337-aligned bundling and signature abstraction to support gasless, seamless smart accounts.
Infra Updates:
- Migrating backend services to a new VM for improved DevOps and CI performance.
- Reviewing and testing frontend smart account flows for release readiness.
Decentralized Licensing: Lit-Powered CEK Retrieval (In Progress)
- Replacing legacy license server flow with Lit Protocol session-based CEK access.
- Integrating SIWE-style session signatures from user wallets to unlock playback authorization.
- Scoping WASM-based decryption in the player core to securely stream content from Lit-based CEKs.
- Refactoring logic in license.js to redirect decryption control from contracts to Lit nodes.
Impact: Playback authorization is shifting toward censorship-resistant, verifiable, and programmable access control — without centralized servers in the loop.
Frontend & Backend Coordination
- Reviewing Web2-style login abstraction and smart account UIs.
- Testing frontend/backend interactions for full session compatibility.
- Merging CI pipelines to support fast iteration across environments.

Why It Matters
This week’s progress unlocks the practical foundations of a new internet:
- Multi-address BTC integration for stablecoins
- Real-time testnet consensus across a 36-node sidechain
- Walletless, gasless account flows
- Elacity dDRM authorization operational even if team stops operating supporting servers.
Elastos is no longer just building infrastructure — it’s redefining how users own, control, and access the digital world.
