Elastos DAO Term 7 Elections Are Now Live

Voting and candidate registration are now open for the Elastos DAO Term 7 Council Elections.

The election opened at block 2,204,050 on May 3, 2026. Over the next 30 days, ELA holders can stake their ELA on the Elastos main chain and vote for the 12 Council members who will help guide the DAO Treasury, proposal process, and SmartWeb direction for the year ahead.

This election is not only for voters. It is also the window for community members, builders, operators, and long-term contributors who want to take responsibility and run for a Council seat.

If you hold ELA, you can vote. If you want to help lead the DAO, you can register as a candidate.

Election timeline

  • Term 6 remains on duty until: Block 2,235,730, around June 16, 2026
  • Voting opened: Block 2,204,050, May 3, 2026
  • Voting closes: Block 2,225,650, around June 2, 2026
  • Claiming window: Block 2,225,650 to 2,235,730, around June 2 to June 16, 2026

  • Term length: 262,800 main chain blocks, about one year

During the voting window and the claiming window that follows, Term 6 remains on duty until block 2,235,730. Term 7 begins after the claiming window ends, around June 16, 2026.

During this period, the outgoing Council cannot promote Suggestions into formal Proposals. This keeps the election period clean and gives the incoming Council a clearer starting point.

For voters: how to vote

Voting is done through the Elastos Essentials wallet. Full voting guide

  1. Open Elastos Essentials on iOS, Android, or desktop.
  2. Make sure your ELA is on the Elastos main chain.
  3. If your ELA is on ESC, bridge it back inside Essentials.
  4. Keep around 0.1 ELA unstaked for transaction fees.
  5. Go to the Staking tab and stake the ELA you want to vote with.
  6. Open the Council voting section.
  7. Choose your candidates and distribute your votes.
  8. Confirm and sign the transaction.

1 ELA equals 1 vote.

You can place all your votes on one candidate or split them across several candidates. Your votes remain active while your ELA stake remains live.

Your staked ELA is not locked. You can withdraw it when needed, and you can also re-stake and vote again if your preferred candidates change or new candidates declare.

For candidates: how to run

Candidate registration is also open through Elastos Essentials. Full registration guide

Running for Council means taking on real responsibility for the DAO. Council members review proposals, vote on funding, join public discussions, help guide priorities, and operate a Supernode during their term.

To register as a candidate, you need:

  • A published Elastos DID
  • A refundable 5,000 ELA deposit on the main chain
  • The ability to operate a Supernode if elected
  • Time to review proposals, join discussions, and vote during the term

This is not only a governance title. It is an active role in the network. Candidates should be ready to explain what they stand for, how they will vote, and how they plan to support Elastos during Term 7.

What the Council does

The Elastos DAO Council has 12 elected members.

Their role is to:

  • Review and vote on funded proposals
  • Promote supported community Suggestions into formal Proposals
  • Help guide the DAO Treasury
  • Support the long-term SmartWeb roadmap
  • Operate a Supernode during the term
  • Represent the network through regular DAO participation

Each Council member must provide a refundable 5,000 ELA deposit and operate a Supernode if elected. Council members also earn rewards during their term. The 5,000 ELA will be returned if not elected. Term 7 rewards are projected to be at least 17% APR.

The Council seat is a job, not just a badge. Members can be removed through a community vote if they fail to carry out their role.

Why Term 7 matters

Term 7 arrives at an important time for Elastos.

Over the past year, several major pieces have started moving from theory into working software:

  • ElastOS v1.2 shipped with a working dApp Centre, Elacity NFT, Glide Finance, email and social login, V3 contracts, a rebuilt dDRM path, and new Rust media engines.
  • Elastos Runtime 0.20 went public, introducing a Rust based runtime where apps and AI agents start with zero permissions until users grant access.
  • World Computer launched with DAO-secured funding through the Keystone Fund.

The next Council will help decide how this progress is funded, reviewed, prioritized, and communicated.

That makes Term 7 important for both voters and candidates. Voters decide who deserves trust. Candidates decide whether they are ready to take responsibility.

Why participation matters

Elastos DAO elections have often been close.

In previous terms, the gap between the 12th seat and the 13th seat has been small enough that active voters made a real difference. A single voter with a meaningful stake can affect the final outcome.

Participation also matters beyond the final seat count.

More voters means stronger governance. More serious candidates means better choices. Together, they show that Elastos DAO is not just a treasury, but an active community choosing who should help guide it.
