This week, the NBW team delivered critical fixes to mainchain consensus stability, advanced PG Chain BPoS block production contract, and progressed BTCD protocol flexibility research. A key BPoS recovery issue following main chain POW degradation was resolved, BPoS contracts were updated based on audit findings, and new groundwork was laid for longer staking periods and Bitcoin Taproot-based evolution across the BTCD protocol.
Mainchain Stability
BPoS Consensus Recovery Fix
- Identified issue preventing BPoS recovery after mainchain degradation to POW
- Reproduced and verified issue through multi-party testing
- Optimised recovery logic and released fixed version after validation
- Completed mainchain version upgrade and BPoS verification
This fix materially improves resilience during degradation and recovery scenarios, strengthening long-term chain stability.
PG Chain BPoS Governance Infrastructure
Audit-Driven Contract Optimisation
- Reviewed security audit findings for BPoS, BTCD, and blacklist contracts
- Applied targeted fixes to BPoS block production contracts
- Optimised random seed generation to improve fairness and security
Reward Distribution Mechanism
- Completed testing of BPoS reward distribution contract
- Wrote deployment scripts and SDK support
- Continued testing of BPoS participation in PG block production
These upgrades further mature decentralised node incentives and governance execution.
Oracle & Infrastructure
- Completed Oracle service and contract interaction testing
- Verified full CRUD lifecycle for BPoS node information
- Resolved display issues in Oracle web service output
BTCD Protocol Flexibility Research
Script Locking & Staking Period Expansion
- Researched optimisation paths for BTC script locking mechanisms
- Evaluated feasibility of more flexible staking period support
- Modified Keeper configuration to prepare for 180-day staking tests
- Fixed order timing discrepancies in ESC staging environment
This work supports future expansion of BTCD use-cases while preserving safety and correctness.
Taproot Technical Research
- Conducted in-depth research on Taproot script implementation
- Wrote Go-based reference implementations
- Explored future Solidity integration paths for BTCD evolution
Taproot research continues to build long-term technical reserves for BTCFi growth. For broader ecosystem context, see BTCFi: A Sleeping Giant.
Next Focus
- Continue monitoring Elastos mainchain recovery behaviour
- Advance PG Chain BPoS reward distribution audit and deployment readiness
- Complete 180-day BTCD staking period testing
- Deepen BTC Taproot-based protocol research for BTCD Protocol
- Further stabilise Elastos Smart Chain environment time handling
Closing
This week strengthened NBW’s core infrastructure across consensus recovery, decentralised governance, and protocol evolution. With audit-driven BPoS improvements, restored mainchain stability, and expanded BTCD design exploration, the ecosystem continues progressing toward a more resilient, flexible, and decentralised BTCFi foundation.
